Why it matters
A Platform Built
for Living, Not Lookup
Cigarbase Is Reference. Emberly Is Participation.
Looking up a cigar is passive. Logging it to your humidor, writing tasting notes after the first puff, seeing how it pairs with the Glenfiddich you're drinking, and sharing that to your community of fellow enthusiasts — that's the experience Emberly was built for. The catalog is the foundation, not the feature.
Your Personal Library vs a Public One
Cigarbase is great for looking up what's in a blend or reading spec sheets. Emberly gives you that same catalog knowledge — but personalizes it. Your humidor, your reviews, your pairing history, your badge collection. The data isn't just about cigars in general. It's about your cigars, your palate, your journey.
The Spirit Connection That Changes Everything
If you're looking up a cigar in Cigarbase, you're probably about to smoke it. What are you drinking with it? Cigarbase can't answer that. Emberly's pairing engine analyzes the cigar's flavor DNA against 1,800+ spirits and tells you exactly what to pour — with a score and detailed tasting note explaining the match. This is the feature that makes Emberly irreplaceable.
AI That Works For You
Cigarbase requires you to know the name of what you're looking for. Emberly's AI scanner learns from the band — point your phone at any cigar in your collection, in a shop, or at a lounge, and it identifies it in real time. No typing. No searching. Just scan, log, and enjoy.
Common questions
Emberly vs Cigarbase
FAQ
Yes — significantly. Cigarbase is a reference catalog rather than a personal collection tool. Emberly's digital humidor lets you track every cigar and spirit you own, with portfolio valuation in dollars, aging progress, multiple storage locations, and tasting notes. It treats your collection like the investment it is.
Emberly's catalog covers 4,200+ cigars with detailed specs — brand, blend, wrapper type, vitola, origin, strength, and tasting notes — plus AI-powered scanning for identification. We're continuously expanding the catalog and welcome member requests for additions.
Absolutely. Emberly's full catalog is browsable without building a personal collection. You can look up any cigar, read its specs and community reviews, and see what spirits pair best with it — all without logging a single stick. But most users find that once they try the AI scanner and the humidor, they never go back to passive lookup.
